We must not rest until this goal is achieved. I do not want my great grandchildren to live in a country like we have today. I wish for them to live in a country where differences of race and culture are not ignored but valued as a part of what makes America great.

"Former militant — reviled by some as a terrorist — received a hero’s welcome along Fifth Ave. at the Puerto Rican Day Parade.

Oscar Lopez Rivera, an ex-member of a Puerto Rican nationalist group linked to deadly bombings in the 1970s and 1980s, waved to the crowd and pumped his chest while riding on a float on Sunday.

Supporters chanted ‘Oscar!’ One carried a sign reading, ‘Oscar Lopez Rivera is our Mandela.’

Others booed, voicing their disgust with his radical past."
